Letters for Adelaide by Grace Everett
Directed by: MaTia Martin (Point Park University 2021)
In December 2021, I had the honor to direct the world premier of Letters for Adelaide by Grace Everett. This beautiful play is a story of discovering queer love during the mid to late 1920's. We follow two artists with the odds of the world against them but, who are nonetheless driven by the determination to love from within. With a mix of poetic storytelling, choreographed blocking and a giant door right in the middle of the action, my goal was to give tangible reality to the internal battle queer people in the world of the play and the world of my own face every day in their fight to love. Letters for Adelaide put trials and tribulations of dangerous love on display in order to unite our hearts more than ever.
Burning Hearts
Playwright/ Co-Director (2021)
Burning Hearts was an experimental piece that grew out of complete and utter heartbreak. In an effort to fuel our creativity and bring life to words on a page, my colleagues and I banded together and decided to turn this once proposed short play into an explorative short film in which we discover what it means to learn how to love.
Going a Little Deeper...
10,000 Ways the Universe Doesn't Have Your Back (and other reasons as to why the world is shit)
Written, Directed, and performed by: MaTia Martin (Point Park University 2022)
A collection of what I've coined Same but Different lifetime scenarios that exist somewhere within us all. Think about faking sick to stay home from school, trying to be the first to finish a math quiz, or heck even your first audition! In this one woman show we revisit all these memories, asking ourselves
"Was it the same for you as it was for me?"
All under a title that seems pessimistic in its name but optimistic in it's sense that life is based on perspective. It's how you look at it, or learn from it, or simply acknowledge it.
If it's enough for you then it's enough.
A Collection of Thoughts
Author (2021)
My first published book of poems, and words, and all the other thoughts that had flood their way into my brain. In this collection on vulnerable reality, readers get short simple glimpses into the ways I think and every minor moment in between.
